The Lamborghini Espada
Building on the success of the Miura, Lamborghini tackled a new challenge – to produce a four-seater “supercar” that would combine sportiness and roominess. The first signal of this intent appeared at the 1967 edition of the Geneva Motor Show with the Marzal, the work of Marcello Gandini, a recent recruit at Bertone. At the Geneva Motor Show of 1968, Lamborghini unveiled the Espada, signed by the same designer. The car boasted of very impressive performance, thanks to the extraordinary 3.9L V12 that the car shared with the Miura.
The Lamborghini Espada we are offering here is chassis 9630. The car was supplied new to the German market via authorized Lamborghini dealer Auto Becker on 23rd July 1975. The first owner was DLV Fischer who ordered 9630 in a fantastic “Verde California”, a colour which it still bears today. Later on 9630 was sold to the Netherlands and acquired by second owner Frisco Peeters, a Lamborghini enthusiast, the car was then registered on plates 79-YA-79. At some point the car received a respray, the interior remains nonetheless completely original. More recently, the car received with its last and current owner a new clutch disc, the engine runs as it should and, being a series 3, offers great comfort with its power steering in comparison to the earlier series.
Available immediately and German registered, 9630 is an excellent example ready to be enjoyed.
